Hamid Arzani

About Me

Hi, I'm Hamid Arzani, an incoming fifth-year PhD candidate in Operations Management and Statistics at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. My research examines how service systems can be designed to be efficient, equitable, and responsive to advances in AI-enabled technologies. A central theme of my work is understanding how operational policies and information structures interact with technological change to shape system performance and access to services, particularly in healthcare and other public-service settings. Methodologically, I combine stochastic modeling, statistical learning, game theory, data-driven optimization, and natural language processing, with a focus on language models.

My research has received awards and finalist honors in student paper competitions organized by INFORMS, POMS, and CORS. I also served as an elected Student Councillor on the CORS Council, representing student members across Canada, and received the 2026 CORS Student Member Leadership Award.

Before beginning my doctoral studies, I earned an M.A.Sc. in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo and dual B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
